“I became hooked on auctions after only going once…going twice…”

Jay’s Pun-A-Day calendar

I haven’t been to an auction for a long time. I think the last one was when we bought our male alpaca, Taz. I’ll have to dig that story out since my original rendition was pretty complete, yet brief. I rejoined the Alpaca Owners Association this year, so if something is within driving distance and has some interesting speakers, I may go just to be immersed in the alpaca world again. These events usually have great workshops, product intros and more. It’s not just an alpaca sale. You get to see what people are breeding for-fineness, staple length, color and more. You get to meet other alpaca people and catch up. But on to what I’ve got going on.

The first box of socks arrived yesterday and they look fantastic. The sizing looks really good and they are soft and stretchy. This box contained the bigger sizes of mediums and larges. I had them make one sample of a boot length in a light weight and I like the height a lot but it was hard for me to tell about the size since it was a size medium and I wear a small. Jay will give me his opinion today.

Here’s what 38 pounds of socks looks like. 171 pairs of socks. Yes, this batch is all a sort of marled oatmeal color. I’m not sure what the next batch will be. Next up? I finished this pair of gloves for a customer. She had to wait way too long, but did. I have 2 more special orders to finish and then I won’t be taking any more. Phyllis and Jackie? You are next. Time to get busy. I have 4 days to get things packed and sorted for Raggz Fiber Affair this Saturday, March 5. I’ll be bringing some of this new batch of socks with me along with fiber, all the way from raw to finished products. This is such a great show for makers. If you need supplies, someone will have what you need. Check out the link above for the vendor list and photos of their wares. I hope to see you there.

In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!
