Daily Reflections From My Window

January 10, 2022 Monday: It’s a Beautiful Day to Excel!

“Einstein developed a theory about space, and it was about time too.”

From Jay’s Pun a Day CalendarDid you run out of ideas for gifts this Christmas like I did? Usually I have ideas but came up empty for anything interesting this year, but I got Jay a “Pun a Day” calendar. We’ve been enjoying them. You have to think. I like it.

I need all of the brain exercise I can get. Simple tasks often help with that-like untangling a skein of yarn I hurriedly threw into a project bag and who knows what happened. I seem to do that. Along with little scraps of yarn that are the end of projects and other bits and pieces. They end up a big tangled mess. It’s the kind of thing I can do at the end of the day while we watch tv to wind down-no pun intended. Get it? Winding yarn? Winding down? 😂This was as far as I got as we watched new info about Camilla and Charles that we hadn’t known before. Jay loves news about the Royal family, especially the Queen, but this program gave us insight into the reasons that Charles is so devoted to Camilla and how after all of these years, she really hasn’t asked him for anything in return. She just is.

Then on to “I Dream of Jeannie” which was coincidentally about Jeannie wanting to knit Tony a sweater with her own hands and not blink it. I don’t get why she’s been his genie for five years and still doesn’t get that you go to the store to buy things here. Of course she goes to Tibet to buy an angora goat. I know, it’s supposed to be funny, but I think we’re getting to the end and then the goat eats everything as it wanders around the house. Most times we watch two episodes and the next one was pretty funny. When Tony and Roger behave like Laurel and Hardy, they are pretty funny. The old time humor is great.

Well, I did start my day yesterday by venturing over the mountain to church and got there without incident and with time to settle. The message was one I needed to hear as usual. The first reading was from Isaiah 43:1-7 and one verse says “Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you.” Then “Do not fear, for I am with you.” It was about unconditional love, so in his sermon the rector reminded us all, including himself, to see people as God sees them and that no one is excluded from God’s love, or the message. He’s so talented in explaining the back story too-Chandler, you’ll like this part. He explained that from the very beginning of the church, it was nasty and had lots of controversy and sometimes violence about who was worthy and what the rules were, just like you said on our conversation the other day. This passage referred to God reminding us that He loves everyone and that’s how we should try to be. I like to see things through rose colored glasses and get worked up when it’s assumed that mankind is violent and bad by nature. I guess we must be, but God reminds us that we don’t have to be. Here’s the link to the service which includes the reading and the sermon.

I really really limit my news now and am cleaning my inbox. Every news preview starts with doom and even my health emails start with “Is this-superfood of the day-killing you?” “If you eat-the former superfood-you’re killing your-whatever body part of the day-” Oy! HERE we will be positive!

I am going to try to title my posts so that you come away with nothing but a laugh or something positive to think about. Or nothing. That’s what this is about, right? So the temp started out this morning on the positive side of zero, but the wind chill is supposedly -2. I can hear the wind blowing. Yikes! It’s so sunny too, which makes things feel warmer than they are. The good news is that it’s supposed to be like this all week and the ground will be frozen and I might get to have some hay delivered to the barn instead of the lower storage shed. It’s looking hopeful.

There seems to be a conference about it at the feeder. In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. Find a pun and enjoy the laugh.

Have a blessed day!
