“Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every New Year find you a better man.” — Benjamin Franklin, “Poor Richard’s Almanac,” 1755Is it just me, or are you ready for this year to be over? January 1, 2022 can’t come soon enough. I’ve even started to slowly put the Christmas decorations away. I’m over the garland and bows. They look tired. We give them so much responsibility. They are supposed to be festive and cheerful and make us feel that way. I know-they are inanimate objects and don’t actually “feel” or “share”, but mine let me down this year, as I did them. Many didn’t make it out of the garage.

Our little fat tree is ready to retire too. Every time we walk past, the slight movement sends a cascade of dead needles falling despite having made a fresh cut before we brought it in and constantly checking to make sure there is fresh water. It’s time for the little thing to go, but that happens New Year’s Day. Some years, we’ve had fresh trees up until Valentine’s Day and only reluctantly removed them because it seemed like we had to. Is it bad luck to take a tree down before the New Year? I’m ready! We did both agree that we love this little tree and the placement and size for next year. We’ll just try for something fresher. We might even be able to plant a few for the coming years. Now THAT might make me excited about it next year! What are your goals for the next year? I am painstakingly cleaning my inbox and trying to unsubscribe from a lot of junk. It’s a part of life anymore. I know I’ll get a lot of unsubs in return and that’s OK. I don’t want my rambling thoughts cluttering up your inbox. That would defeat the purpose of this post. If you must unsubscribe, I will not take it personally. I get it. A friend texted to ask me a question last night and I had to peek into my office junk drawer for the answer. Does everyone have a drawer like this? I needed a paper clip. It sent me into a throw out rampage. I ended up trying to match all of the electronic cords to their devices. Is it bad to leave them attached? Why do I have so many portable charging devices? Must be from my Macaroni Kid days when I needed power during day long vending events. I have them all charging now. Just in case. And what are these things called?

I have quite a few. They came with info and graphics for Mac Kid national campaigns. Can I delete that stuff and reuse them? Do I need them? And all of the other daisy themed things? The new publisher doesn’t need them because the logo has changed. Hey! I’m getting excited for a new project of 2021 clean out! Thank you Dawn for getting this started with that paper clip search. I cleaned out that one drawer and it has me wanting to tackle bigger clean outs.

The morning is finally breaking and I was able to take my photo. Jay and I were both up before 6 this AM and ready to start the day which WASN’T ready yet. I can’t say there is a sunrise, but dawn has arrived. Yesterday we had a lovely lunch with my favorite people in the world. Each one is so special, and I can’t imagine life without any one of them, even Ch…C…Br…Madison’s younger brother Chandler is visiting and he’s a sweetie. I’ll get his name down pat. Last year I think I called him Cooper the whole time, or was it Connor? We have time. It will be a great week.

In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!

Oh look! One last picture.

Today, the view looks like an Island.
