Daily Reflections From My Window

December 23, 2021: Thursday-Advent Day 23 Home Stretch-Should I Start to Shop?

“It all starts with the tree for me.”

Mike, a friend of Jack’s

Wisdom comes from everywhere and Mike, is full of life’s wisdom. He was at the gingerbread baking event and I told him that I was having a hard time getting into the spirit this year, telling him that I had just gotten our tree and couldn’t even smell it. He said that he been not really in the spirit had either, but then, as soon as he got his tree he felt “it”. Here I am back to how lack of smell affects perspective. Anyone else experiencing this? As for our gingerbread judging? You have a until tomorrow at noon to vote. After that, I can’t guarantee that I’ll remember. One of you voters will receive a lovely gift (that I WILL guarantee). You have to vote to win. The link to the live FB video where you can see and vote for the winning structure is a few blog posts back. Part of the strategy is making you work for it! Remember December 24, 2021 at noon is the last day to enter and vote. You don’t have to be local to vote and win. Just over 18 years of age.

As for our sweet little tree, which I love more each day, it’s strange, looking at it and not being able to smell it. It might as well be fake. Jay assures me that it is very fragrant. It is what it is this year. He is uncharacteristically jolly this year! He’s done several shopping trips so far and spent the day yesterday picking up odds and ends for stocking stuffers. I still have some things to do too and might do that today. I’m way behind.Yesterday I had a really lovely day with some shoppers here and I really appreciate you! I heard on the news last night that because of supply chain issues this year, independent artists and crafters saw increases in their business that they haven’t seen in years. Count me as one. I appreciate all of you who chose local and locally grown and created this year. I’m hoping it will continue as I focus on what to bring you next year. I’m listening and welcome suggestions and ideas.

I had to mail a package late yesterday snd on the way home, it was already dark snd there was a bright light in the sky. Had to have been the Christmas Star. Babies are booming and need hats. Though the cold is just really beginning, fingerless mitts (like sleeves) are hot right now. Did I hear fold over boot sleeves? Now on to the real meaning of the season. Our fabric calendar. Look who is left in the pocket. The church calendar. Great news! Brrrrrrr. We’re off to a chilly start. Good day to position feed bags in the barn while the ground is still frozen.

Need last minute poinsettias? The Westwood Garden Haven has these amazing ones! It’s a classic. Dovis is giving me the stink eye. She says, “Get to work girl!” She’s right.

In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!
