Daily Reflections From My Window

December 16, 2021 Thursday: Advent Day 16 and the Sound of Enthusiasm

“This is a brief life, but in its brevity it offers us some splendid moments, some meaningful adventures.”

Rudyard Kipling

I wasn’t sure what my thoughts would be this morning. I had a really busy day yesterday starting with accompanying my Madison and Jack to a Dr. Appt. seems she has something going on with her thyroid. 🙏🏻 that it’s nothing please. Then we had a nice lunch and then home. I took a few hours to put up our few decorations for the season. We still need a tree, but did what I could in the time I had.

The other day, I got an invitation to participate in the annual Christmas Sip and Shop with the Stiletto Network and happily agreed. It was very last minute but I had some things already made and headed to the venue, Balance and set up at 5:30-for a 6-9 PM event. I was familiar with the Stiletto Network through Macaroni Kid, but wasn’t totally aware of how they impacted the community, first by giving women support and a network to empower their businesses, and next through helping local organizations like the Women’s Help Center and others by raising money through what looks like all fun and games. It took me a while to absorb that, because the space was small, dark and noisy and I’m not used to that! It was a little bit of sensory overload, to be honest. The organizers busted their butts, running back and forth, talking to people, selling tickets, laughing, and making connections with all of us vendors, and new people to the event. What an asset to our area and started by 2 women, Toni Gunby and Eileen Graham. Here’s a look at the event. I think they meet in different venues, monthly with different topics each time. Thank you to Balance Restaurant for hosting and to the wait staff for being so kind with so many people to serve in such a limited space! I asked if you had to wear stilettos to join. The answer was no, but that they really do like interesting shoes and I saw quite a few stunners. Are you a shoe person? This could justify that and do good works at the same time. They are encouraging and kind and always welcoming to new members. Thanks to Eileen for the invitation. This must be the ONLY picture of Toni and Eileen not smiling and laughing. Sorry ladies. On to today. I have a few things to mail and orders to fulfill. It looks like another beautiful day! How did we get so lucky?

Here’s our Advent adventure. Today, I’m sharing a set made by Jack when he was a tot. I love this one! Added to the fabric calendar-another camel. The church calendar.Grab the opportunity if you are offered an adventure like I was with the Stiletto Network event. If I hadn’t, I would have missed hearing and seeing the passion and enthusiasm these ladies have for this area. Thank you so much again, for the invitation! In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!
