Daily Reflections From My Window

November 19, 2021 Friday: Lots to Report!

“Learn to become still. And to take your attention away from what you don’t want, and all the emotional charge around it, and place your attention on what you wish to experience.”

Michael BeckwithFor me, that means turning off the National news and refocusing on what’s right here in front of me. I feel better already. This sunrise!

Simple tasks like laundry, become so much more enjoyable. Here’s a revelation! Lately, we seem to have larger loads since it’s colder and we’re wearing more layers. I had an idea that instead of separating clothing by color, I would do by type. Like all pants, all tops, all undies and socks. You get it. I’m telling you, it was amazing. Folding was a breeze! And so was stacking and putting away. What took me so long to figure that out? What tips do you have?

Now to the fun. I had a few errands to do yesterday and one was to get more greens. I love eating fresh salads in the AM for breakfast thanks to this new detox, which is over, but I’ll do this for a while. I’ve wanted to go to a local greenhouse to get greens and have gotten some at local farmers market, but finally went to the actual greenhouse yesterday.

And what a wonderful place to be on a day like yesterday! Meet the guys behind Eliza’s Organics, Rob and John Beard/AKA The Bearded Farmers. (Sorry about the picture-I could have done better!) Here’s a peek at the organically grown hydroponic produce they grow and supply to over a dozen local restaurants in the area as well as us locals. It’s really incredible how much they grow and just how delicious it is. And fresh! I got lettuce and cucumbers and will definitely get my greens there from now on. Here are the roots and though there is no soil, they recommended a quick rinse, which I did. I think this was the best I’ve ever had!

Now on to the other news. Talk about a Godwink. Yesterday I had bloodwork and for once, got there early and ran into a friend I haven’t seen forever. She mentioned that she loved Madison and Jack’s new coffee shop and that she saw a blurb on the tv while she waited to have her bloodwork that they were going to be on “Around the Alleghenies” later in the day. We knew they had been interviewed, this fall, but weren’t sure when the story would air and neither were they. But for that chance meeting, we wouldn’t have known. Thanks Mali Gardill!

Here’s a link to the story video. Thanks KC O’Day for doing such a great job! Since I went to the greenhouse after I’d seen Mali, I’m going to say this too was a Godwink, because I hadn’t known that her husband’s family’s farm provides the meats for the greenhouse. More, fresh, humanely raised and local.

Tonight is Light Up Night and I can’t wait! If you go, bundle up. Winter has arrived. I see some little snowflakes falling. H.Wonder Coffee and Records will have some special flavors for the event and will be open 12-8 Friday and Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday for the holidays. With just the two of them, they need to be mindful of that.

Madison was able to secure our favorite gingerbread artist Bethany Carney to do a special display in the window of the Gallery. I can’t wait to see what this has become!

Hope to see you there!

In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!
