Daily Reflections From My Window

November 9, 2021 Tuesday Tell Me a Story-Yes, the Socks are Up and Ready.

“We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.”

Jonathan Gottschall

I learn best when I hear something in a story format. It helps me to relate. Jay and I haven’t gone out to a movie forever and I’m not sure there are any I want to see lately. Who tells a great story anymore? I miss my parents and grandparents and the stories they would tell about something that happened either in history, or to them. We’d go visit my grandparents on Sunday afternoon and they always had something to share. I miss the bonfires we had growing up in our backyards on Raven Drive that our neighbor, Mr. Barie would build. It was magic when on a beautiful summer afternoon he’d start gathering wood. We knew that meant a bonfire was coming up as he would light it and everyone would bring something to share-graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey bars, sticks. We’d sit around the fire and someone would tell a scary ghost story and then someone else would tell another. Those stories would transfix us so that we were so immersed that we wouldn’t even hear someone sneaking up behind us with a “Bwahahaaaaa” to scare the pants off of us!

I think the stories today have gotten so graphic that there’s no room for imagination. Boy did we imagine back then. Sometimes what you can’t see is scarier than what you can. But even funny stories are like that. Great storytellers are able to share and let you imagine in your own mind some details. I obviously need to read a good book or see a good movie.

The kids went to see the new Diana movie last night. Maybe that’s one to see. If you lived through those years, it would be interesting to see how everyone is portrayed. It’s locked in history now with all of the stories about her and I wonder if whoever wrote it was even alive then. You can see that I don’t know much about the new movies.

Now here’s a story in as few words as possible on my tea bag. Doesn’t it make you imagine a tiny acorn falling and then another. A tiny tree sprouts and grows into a tree and then maybe the wind blows the acorn off and it rolls to a new place to sprout. What’s the weather like? Is it chilly? Is it a warm day? You can imagine anything.

Yesterday was another day of getting my products online. I think I did it and the socks are live right here at this LINK.

It took me a lot longer without the help of my MacKid buddies. They taught me so much about websites, I can’t even tell you.

Feedback is always welcome too. If something’s not working, or you don’t see something, let me know. Not all things are available in all colors.

Last night there was a spectacular site in the sky towards the south. We met our friend Nancy last night and she pointed it out. Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon and Venus were all lined up in a row in the southern sky. It was really beautiful but there were so many lights that it was hard to get a photo. I’m glad we got to see it! I’m sure someone somewhere got a better picture. Today I feel like I get a little break and will get outside and get some things done. I won’t be tied to my computer. I still have some tweaking to do-a lot in fact, but the basics are there. Sometimes less is more. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Not much changes for this group. A little chewing, some rolling in the dust, the usual. In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!
