Daily Reflections From My Window

“My grandpa would take me to the driving range and, I don’t know, it didn’t take me long to realize I’m a little different with golf. I have an eye for seeing things differently. Somehow I just see shots in my head.”

Rickie Fowler

I love this quote, because it’s an example of how we all have special gifts right out of the gate. We all see things differently and we weren’t made by cookie cutters. Because we enjoy something, doesn’t mean we can make it our career. We also saw Ricki Fowler play in the Sunnehanna Amateur “before he was Ricki” and I like to read that he’s more than his orange pants and orange trucker hat.

Did you vote yesterday? We did, and then headed to an early lunch at Eat’n Park. It was so nice to see some of the regular servers back. This whole pandemic really took its toll there. I started to think about the original Eat’n Park in Pgh that my parents would take us to occasionally as kids. You actually parked, ordered and ate in your car. Someone brought it out to a tray by the side of the window. There were individual parking spots. We always got chocolate milkshakes and Big Boy hamburgers. I was thinking that they should have brought that back temporarily. Retro. I didn’t realize that the focus was so much on the all you could eat buffet and when they had to stop that, people stopped going. I like the menu items. Here’s Elaine in the photo above. She has worked there as long as I’ve lived here it seems. It was good to see her. She looks great!

Then home we went to bring in more plants, tidy up and get back to labeling socks. My friend called and wanted to walk. Of course! Let’s go! It was a beautiful day, yet crisp and I need it. Her husband was doing yard work and enjoying being outside. We also had long ago plans to meet friends for dinner. We haven’t been able to do that forever and I’m glad we did. We headed over to Carol and Dave’s Roadhouse in Ligonier and what a night for a drive! The sky was absolutely magnificent. Here are some shots that Mindy, who was in the front passenger seat was able to capture. Unretouched. I grabbed the one below from the balcony of C&D’s. The sky was amazing! We had a great time together and the meal was delicious! I also have to mention that they serve quinoa as a side and that’s what I chose. Who knew? No pictures. Can you believe it?

Our kiddoes return today from a visit to Georgia to see family and it will be good to have them back. They’ll be in for a little bit cooler weather here. I hope they’re ready! Another busy day ahead. Socks are in the home stretch thank goodness! I know you need some. In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day and bundle up!
