“If liberty and equality, as is thought by some, are chiefly to be found in democracy, they will be best attained when all persons alike share in government to the utmost.”

Aristotle

I really have nothing to say today at all. Yesterday, I did things that needed to be done and it wasn’t exciting! The day was rainy and it was a good day for catching up.

The day started with church, which is always refreshing and then Jay treated me to Eat’n Park. They’ve brought back the Buffet so it was pretty busy and I’m sure they were very pleased with the turnout. It was nice to get out. Then home again to clean up the garage. I moved one thing and it lead to pretty much straightening up the whole place. There’s more to be done, but it looks a lot more orderly.

Take a look at this view today! I can’t get over this beauty and the colors! This is real and unedited.

Here it is just cropped a bit with scripture verse, but no other edit. One thing I did yesterday was try the burnt orange thing to try to get my senses of taste and smell back. I followed the directions by charring the orange and then peeled it while still hot, put the orange in a deep cup, added a bit of brown sugar and mashed it together. The directions said to put it in a deep cup so that when you ate it while hot, you were experiencing the smell, taste and heat. It didn’t work this time but I’ll keep trying. Did anyone try this? Did it work?

While I was making dinner, the news was on and a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Va, Winsome Sears was being interviewed. What a breath of fresh air! Winsome is the daughter of an immigrant who came from Jamaica with $1.87 in his pocket, worked to make his life better and got an education, and when his daughter Winsome came along made sure she had the same chance. She says that education is the great equalizer. She also said that her father taught her that she had to make her own way in the world and that no one could do it for her, not even him. She shared that her father is comfortable in his retirement due to his hard work and education. I think that’s the American dream I know. Give her a listen. She’s in Virginia, but I hope her attitude starts to spread. Some of her statistics are shocking. She said she could either curse the darkness or light a candle and she decided on the latter. We need more leaders like her: not because she’s a woman, but because she’s got ideas and integrity. Aristotle is right on this one.

We didn’t have any trick or treaters last night and I have to admit that I miss them. It was one of my Dad’s favorite days. Mine too. Oh well.

It’s a beautiful day ahead and I have a follow up appointment on my knee. I’ll be driving this morning but that’s ok. It’s a blessing and feels great.

In the meantime, do something you’ve never done before. Find your passion and explore it. Every single day is a gift. I’m off to tend my passion.

Have a blessed day!
