Daily Reflections From My Window

September 28, 2021-Tuesday: Happy National Son Day!

“There is more to a boy than what his mother sees. There is more to a boy then what his father dreams. Inside every boy lies a heart that beats. And sometimes it screams, refusing to take defeat. And sometimes his father’s dreams aren’t big enough, and sometimes his mother’s vision isn’t long enough. And sometimes the boy has to dream his own dreams and break through the clouds with his own sunbeams.”

Ben Behunin

Isn’t that the truth! It’s so interesting what our kids become. Our son has become such an interesting man. He’s a philosopher, musician, entrepreneur, independent business owner, free thinker, loving partner to our sweet Madison, great judge of character, world traveler and so much more. He’s got a wonderful sense of humor and a sense of fun. Top that off with the fact that he’s handsome and youthful looking like his Dad and with a beautiful smile-can you tell I love him? Happy National Son Day to our one and only!

He looked so great at his cousin Andrew’s wedding! I think this is the only picture of us cleaned up and looking spiffy together from that event, because we were too busy dancing. If only I’d had my hula hoop! It was at the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens by the airport. Such a beautiful venue and was outside under a tent. Loved the lights! Boy that was some storm last night. Luckily, the power is on, but it was so dark when I took this photo at 7 AM. Reminds me that we’ll be turning the clocks back in no time. Yesterday I got a lot done. I’m working on black dryer balls and more ornaments. The picture above is of the filling. I knit small tubes and fill them with the fluff. It’s nice to have black dryer balls for all of the darker garments. I’m also crossing my fingers that SOME socks arrive before the week is out. It’s T minus 10 days to my first fall festival and someone shared that our UPS office was robbed and an unlimited number of boxes were stolen. Really? What happened to working for a living? How do people stoop so low that they have to steal? There seem to be a lot of help wanted signs with signing bonuses around, but what do I know…there are more jobs than people who will work lately.

Today, I’ll finish out the black dryer balls and make more white and grey and then get working on fingerless mittens and dyeing some yarn.I’ll finish out the day with Hula Hoop Fitness at the Grove. It’s from 6-7 and I’ll be ready for the full body workout by then. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Yesterday our painters were here all day. They are working on the outside of the house. I doubt if they will be here today with the storms happening, but who knows?

Jay is off to a special Father/Son breakfast this morning. I love when they do that.

It’s Day 95 for my Sierra Tank Dress. Here I am, off to a meeting wearing it over pants. I hear it’s the new style. I slipped on shoes for Jay to take a quick picture before we left and didn’t notice that I had 2 different shoes on. . As much as I love this dress and wear it every day, I don’t enjoy having to remember to take pictures. It’s everything I had hoped it would be and would love to have fabric made from alpaca fiber and repeat the challenge that way. In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, get outside for some fresh air and keep the length of an alpaca cria (which is a baby alpaca and about 3 feet long) between you and the next person.

Have a blessed day!
