Daily Reflections From My Window

September 17, 2021 Friday: The Last Weekend of Summer!

“We labor to make a house a home, then every time we’re expecting visitors, we rush to turn it back into a house.”

Robert Breault

We’ve had visitors this past week. They’re using our home as a hub while they visit friends and family in town. We get to see them daily and they are such good friends that it’s like having family here. It’s been nice.

With Covid, I’m so out of practice in having guests, or even socializing. Am I fit for human interaction yet? You’ll have to ask them. Clean sheets and towels, lots of to and breakfast and they’re good to go, thank goodness! They have a lot of people to visit and a very busy social schedule. Thank goodness they know that we aren’t running a hotel and this is a home where the staff is very rusty! I got an Etsy order overnight which was a great thing to wake up to, followed by the same order being canceled-not so great. The buyer said it was an accidental purchase. I’ve never done that so will have to give it some thought. I want to do it correctly. I’ve never had an order cancellation.

This is the last weekend of summer. So much to squeeze in and so little time. Flax Scutching, Slavic Festivals and so many more events. Who knows what we’ll do in this time of spontaneity? I’m leaning towards Flax Scutching. It’s my favorite festival. This morning, I have visitors coming to meet the alpacas and learn about spinning and fiber, so I need to wrap this up.

I wanted to share this video with you. Hula hoop fitness at the Grove with Dawn. Yes, that’s my navy tank dress! It works for every occasion and activity. Boy did I need that! The music was amazing and my hoop mates make it fun. We’re becoming a circle of a different sort.

In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, get outside for some fresh air and keep the length of an alpaca cria (which is a baby alpaca and about 3 feet long) between you and the next person.

Have a blessed day!
