Daily Reflections From My Window

July 2, 2021 Friday Shipping Day!

“Every moment is a fresh beginning.”

T.S. Eliot

Boy was I off track yesterday! We needed that rain but I missed the sunshine. It threw me for a loop, as my mom would say.

Hooping last night helped get my thoughts in order, thank goodness. Never underestimate the power of pairing fitness with fun!

Anywho, today is a fresh start so here is the fish tale I promised.

We have a neighbor who loves to fish. He caught a massive rainbow trout and gave it to us. It was way too big for just Jay and I, (HOW BIG WAS IT!) so we put the beast in the freezer and waited for a time when Jack and Madison could join us for dinner. Wednesday was the day! We stuffed it with thyme, dill, parsley and lemon, cooked it up in the oven at 425 for 30 minutes (it was THAT big!), and it was the most beautiful meal we’ve had in a while. With a side of mashed kohlrabi and a fresh salad, we were set. Except for serving it and Madison came to the rescue, googled “How to debone a fresh trout” and guided Jay through the steps. They got every single bone out of that fish in one fell swoop. We were so proud of Jay. Look at Jack’s face!

We had enough for a second meal. It was THAT big! I was even able to compost the bones to this:Then yesterday I started packing up boxes that WILL be shipped today and the process of our very own socks will begin.

Here’s a peek at that escapade!notice that I’m wearing the Sierra Tank Dress for day 4. I had it on all day again. I plan to wear it again today, and maybe style it a little differently since the weather is a bit cooler.

I washed the fabric that I naturally dyed with the avocados and the jury is out on that. There is barely any color. To say it is blush would be reaching. Here are the two side by side. For now, I’m grateful for a new day and a fresh start. I have a date to swim with a friend this morning and then plan to go to the farmers market and get back to fiber.

I still have the darker colors to box up. I managed to get about 40 pounds into one box of the lights and fawns and 13 into a smaller box.

I know that I can get the rest into 3 more boxes if not 2. There are 3 more bags for another total of almost 60 pounds. Wish me luck! I’m already ahead of schedule. What’s on your agenda today? I hope it’s a good day for you.

In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, get outside for some fresh air and keep the length of an alpaca cria (which is a baby alpaca and about 3 feet long) between you and the next person.

Have a blessed day!
