“Coffee is a lot more than just a drink; it’s something happening. Not as in hip, but like an event, a place to be, but not like a location, but like somewhere within yourself. It gives you time, but not actual hours or minutes, but a chance to be, like be yourself, and have a second cup.”
I got a lot done yesterday but can’t believe that I didn’t take a single picture. It was such a beautiful day and I had errands to run and had a cup of tea with my friend Lauren before I returned home. She’s so sweet and so busy. I felt lucky to have her to myself for that short time.
All of a sudden my text has gone bold. It is Wednesday after all. Mid week. I can’t seem to get it back to regular print. Sorry!
So since I have time to tell this story, I will.
What’s in a name? Well a lot. My original alpaca name was Laurel Highlands Alpacas. I own the domain for it and the legal name. There is one out there without the “s” in Highlands. Just Highland. Then one day, I was renewing my web services and the guy on the other end of the phone said, “This name is too long. Do you know how many times I’ve misspelled it? We need to change it!” And we did-to Alpacamom.com. Well, I had an Instagram account and my handle was called Alpacamomdotcom. All was well until they shut me down for going against community standards. Why? I don’t know what I did. My name is unavailable to me. I am now FaithandAlpacas. Makes no sense, I know. I’m all over the place lately.
So imagine having a name for years, like Madison. Her Dad told her that if she had been a boy, she would have been named Champ, and that’s been his nickname for her, so she took Champ Major as her stage name.
They even have official Easter Eggs. I borrowed pictures from Mad’s Instagram account (except the Easter Egg one came from the internet search). Her handle is still @champ.major, but she’ll be going by Madison major from now on. Who had to change their name? Not the dogs unfortunately. She now goes by either Madison Major or her business name of “Hooded Wonder Records and Coffee”. I like them both. New beginnings!
I was going to meet up with my friend Jen for a little water walk, but because of the crappy weather, we’re postponing until tomorrow. That’ll work.
The alpacas aren’t crazy about the downpour either. Hard to get a picture today from inside. I’ll go out in a bit to freshen them up.
In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, stay home but if you MUST go out, wear a mask and keep the length of an alpaca cria (which is a baby alpaca and about 3 feet long) between you and the next person.
Have a blessed day!
