“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state–it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle…. Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one’s actions.”
Abraham Joshua Heschel
We needed some rain and should celebrate having it. It’s Palm Sunday and for the first time in months, we’ll be going to actual in-person church service. That’s a celebration!
Last night, I TRIED to get a picture of the full moon. Another cause for celebration! Perhaps my lens needs to be cleaned. All of my pictures came out blurry, but I like this one.
We were celebrating this sweet woman’s 50 Birthday AND her husband Rob’s. It was the double surprise party and was so much fun to have been included even though my head was spinning with figuring out who was surprising whom. Lots of fun and such a wonderful celebration.
And then these two old friends are celebrating 40 years together! I’ve known Susan and her family since I was born, so that’s a few more than 40 years. Wish we could celebrate together!
Lots of celebrations popping up. We celebrated having our Madison all to ourselves yesterday and today while Jack was celebrating with his cousin. We accomplished a project we’ve been planning forever. Pictures to come!
In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, stay home but if you MUST go out, wear a mask and keep the length of an alpaca cria (which is a baby alpaca and about 3 feet long) between you and the next person.
Have a blessed day and find a reason to celebrate!
**Note: Everyone in these pictures without masks have either HAD Covid or has been vaccinated.
