“To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” Buddha

I can’t tell. Is March coming in like a Lion or a Lamb? It’s raining like heck and is cold this morning, but it’s supposed to go up to 50*. You decide.

My plan yesterday was to remove a lot of poop from the alpacas areas. Despite the rain, much of it was frozen into the ground. I think it will have to wait. Better days for that are ahead. Jay helped me haul hay, feed and wood pellets up to the barn. It’s nice to have his help. I really appreciate it. I don’t seem to be as strong as I used to be. We’ll have to work on that. I did get the barn cleaned out and spread some of the fresh wood shavings to help keep it dry, but for some reason, they prefer to use the inside section of the barn as their outhouse.Since I was bundled up with my ice cleats on, I decided to keep walking for Pancreatic cancer and my friend John. It was the last day of the challenge and I got about 2 miles in yesterday. It was slippery and foggy and I stayed on our property. At least if I fell, Jay would find me eventually!

Then I decided to make our friend Rick Sebastian’s world renowned spaghetti sauce. It’s takes all day to simmer and I even enlisted Jay as my soul chef. He cut onions, carrots and garlic for the sauce. He pretty much made it. All I did was direct and Rick’s recipe is very detailed so you can’t go wrong.

We had one really strong onion. That’s Jay tearing up. It turned out great! Unfortunately I still can’t smell or taste so I had to keep asking if it smelled good. Ugh!

Madison snd Jack came over to do laundry and for us to work on her top secret project. I need to take my sewing machines in for a check up. They were both acting up. I haven’t used them in a very long time. It’s time. The stitches were all wonky, and I couldn’t remember what I was doing. I need more celery. She was so sweet giving me the benefit of the doubt but I really deep down worry that this could be the beginning of dementia. Please God, no. I have too much to do yet.

When I sent a picture of Mad working to my siblings, this was the response I got from my niece Skye, who spent many hours with me in my basement on Raven Drive growing up sewing. I love her!

“Did you finally hoodwink another young lady to hang out with you in a basement while you are sewing, @Julie?

So funny! We had some good times in that basement and I hope to have many more in this one that I call my “Studio”. Sounds more chic than basement, doesn’t it?

The spaghetti was amazing (they tell me!) and we had a Greek salad to go with it.

We finished the evening with a Zoom call with my family, 3 of my siblings and 2 nieces. We need to get back to that more regularly. Everyone looks and sounds great! Good to see. I should have taken a screenshot. They were very impressed with Jay’s mustache. I pray regularly for their health and happiness.

It’s pretty windy out there today. Be careful. I hear that there is a lot of flooding locally.

I might be able to bring my reindeer in soon. I can see some grass and the patio.

In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, stay home but if you MUST go out, wear a mask and keep the length of a full grown llama (which is bigger than an alpaca) between you and the next person.

Have a blessed day!
