Daily Reflections From My Window

Februart 4, 2021 Thursday. The first one in 11 years that I won’t be sending out a Macaroni Kid Newsletter.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

Oprah Winfrey.

I think God has bigger things ahead for me, though, if it sounds like I’m mourning my newsletter, I am.

On the other hand, there is freedom in not doing it. I STILL find myself pouring through local sites looking for events, thinking, oh! I need to take a picture of that. I guess I can still do those things for myself.

I had a pleasant surprise this morning at 7 AM. Jack called on his way home from dropping Madison off at the coffee shop. He wanted to throw around an idea. He has a very special skill and was thinking of offering private classes to interested students. You know me! I said, Go For It! With more and more schools eliminating the arts and music, I think he’d be booked. He’s got a college degree, and is a working artist so what better credentials, right? He did the music for “Outlaw Ocean” a documentary by Ian Urbina and has been working on music for a podcast for a living philosopher (I can’t remember his name right now). Jack works under the name of mt.marcymusic.com . He and Madison just started a record label called Hooded Wonder. They have big things ahead. Anyone interested in learning an intro to music production? He’s your man. I can put you in touch.

I think the alpacas will absolutely love today! It’s going to be bright and sunny and we are having hay delivered today. I am down to 2 bales. That has never happened before but with the ice, it was impossible to deliver. Today will be perfect.

A little glimpse of what we got. I know many of you got more. This is plenty for me!

Yesterday I took some pictures while we were clearing snow. It was so bright that I couldn’t even see what I was taking pictures of. The good thing? It’s so beautiful here that it’s hard to miss.

And we may have a bloom today! I think we are getting closer. It’s exciting.

This morning I’m meeting Madison at her coffee shop for a tea and then I’m heading to get my hair cut. It’s time! Then I’ll be back to unload hay. All in all a wonderful day! I feel my energy returning. It’s really a fantastic feeling!

My post really went off the rails today. I was going to tell you more about the Bible Study snd the book we are reading and how many blessings we are so lucky to enjoy. I was going to tell you how I love Oprah snd for years never missed her show and her wisdom and how before I studied the Bible thought that she said “When I was a child, I thought as a child and when I got older, I thought better” to paraphrase what she said. I did not know that that was from scripture. Now I don’t even know if she is still on! But I agree with what her gratitude saying is today. You’ll never have enough if you don’t appreciate what you DO have. And with that, I’ll let you go!

Remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, stay home but if you MUST go out, wear a mask and keep the length of a full grown llama (which is bigger than an alpaca) between you and the next person.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Beautiful sunrise picture and the snow is lovely to look at – I just wouldn’t want to shovel it. Gray and misty here, but the grass stays green all winter. We need one good hard 2-3 day freeze so the bugs aren’t bad in the summer and we haven’t really had that yet. Letting go of MacKid just opens up your life to possibilities. Let go and let God, right?
