Daily Reflections From My Window

“I’m sure the universe is full of intelligent life. It’s just been too intelligent to come here.”

Arthur C. Clarke

Our world is really topsy turvy lately. I don’t know what to think.

One thing that I have discovered about myself is that I need routine as my framework and then whatever happens within that, I can be flexible. Like, Tuesday and Thursday is my day for hula hooping with my friends at the Grove, but lately it’s been on Zoom. The last two times, we had interruptions in our internet and that just stinks. I realize that I need a leader or I do the same thing over and over. Thank goodness we start back live on Tuesday. I can’t wait to see Dawn and the ladies in person.

Madison and Jack came over last night and it’s so much more fun to have a live hooping buddy. That makes it fun and I realized that I WAS smiling! It’s been a while and Madison makes me smile. She’s such a sweet girl and she and Jack make a wonderful pair. God is good.

The interesting thing is that if you read this post often, then you know that I love Tucker Carlson and his common sense take on what is happening in the world. He explains it so well. Jay has given up watching the news but I like to sneak in Tucker at 8. So last night after hooping and after dinner, I announced that I had to watch Tucker (I’ve missed him a few nights lately). A few days ago, J&M were telling us about an artist from a label called Mexican Summer who was fired-or let go from his recording contract for being at the Trump Rally last week. He went to the rally, went home to the hotel, took a nap and was not involved in any violence at the Capitol but there was a picture of him at the rally so with no questions asked, articles went out about him that were untrue and his livelihood was destroyed. Apparently no one will touch him because he is labeled a Trump supporter. Ariel Pink is the name of the artist and no major news channel or magazine would give him the time of day to tell his story. He was guilty of supporting a candidate he believed in. So who gave him the time and platform to explain what happened? He called Tucker and Tucker gave him a platform. Isn’t that incredible in our cancel culture world? I think the most amazing thing was that J&M were here to watch it with me. They know people at the record label which is based in Brooklyn. We have different ideas about it, but watched together and that’s something.

Reminds me of Ravelry. They really were ahead of their time. This made me buy from artists who were not on that platform. What will happen to Mexican Summer?

Now to Star Trek. It’s been pretty interesting lately. What amazes me most is that we are on something like season 2, episode 21. They made so many episodes. Not like shoes today where there may be 5. Last night was about the group of Kirk, Spock and McCoy checking on a planet parallel to Earth were the Roman Empire HADN’T fallen. One of Kirk’s buddies who had flunked out of star Fleet commander training ended up there and broke the agreement that they don’t interfere with a planet’s course and so things were a mess. It’s very interesting. Similar to what’s happening now. When they talk about the 1990s and the 2000s, Jay and I look at each other in amazement.

The sun is out! Yay! I hear rain and snow are on the way. Yesterday we had snow flurries in the morning for about an hour but nothing stuck.

Remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, stay home but if you MUST go out, wear a mask and keep the length of a full grown llama (which is bigger than an alpaca) between you and the next person.

Have a blessed day!
